LET HIM BE ACCURSED—THE SERIOUSNESS OF GETTING THE GOSPEL RIGHT: Galatians 1:6-10

DOCTRINE: There is only one true gospel by which anyone is saved. There are many who try to pervert it, and those who do so are cursed by God.

I. THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE GOSPEL BY WHICH ANYONE IS SAVED (Galatians 1:7a)

I) Salvation is by GRACE alone (Romans 3:23-24). II) The grace of justification is received through FAITH alone (Galatians 2:16). III) Faith must be in CHRIST alone (Philippians 3:9). IV) This salvation is all to the GLORY OF GOD alone (Ephesians 1:3-14). V) This whole gospel is revealed in the SCRIPTURES alone (2 Timothy 3:15, Isaiah 8:20).

II. THOSE WHO PREACH A FALSE GOSPEL DO NOT OVERTLY DENY THE TRUE GOSPEL, THEY SUBTLY PERVERT IT (Galatians 1:7b)

False teachers pervert the one true gospel of Jesus Christ by either addition, subtraction, or substitution.

III. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO THE PREACHER IS WHO PREACHES A FALSE GOSPEL (Galatians 1:8a)

IV. ANYONE WHO PREACHES A FALSE GOSPEL IS ACCURSED (Galatians 1:8a-9)

V. TO BE FAITHFUL TO CHRIST AND HIS GOSPEL, YOU MUST BE HIS SLAVE, NOT THE SLAVE OF MEN (Galatians 1:10)

I) If you believe you are justified before God by anything other than the merits of Christ imputed to you, you are outside of Christ and do not posses salvation (Galatians 5:4). II) You must watch out for those who pervert the true gospel of Christ and preach a false one (Philippians 3:2). III) If you do not watch out for and expose false gospel’s, you may just be guilty of soul murder (Ezekiel 3:18). IV) You and I must not be unequally yoked with those who believe or preach a false gospel (2 Corinthians 6:14).
